This role ensures all field operations are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards, while adhering to Smyth Industries' policies, procedures, and core values.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Field Operations & Project Execution
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of electrical construction crews involved in water-related infrastructure projects.
  • Interpret and work from electrical schematics, blueprints, specifications, and NEC-compliant documents.
  • Plan, schedule, and allocate labor, equipment, and materials to meet project milestones.
  • Ensure job sites are organized, safe, and operating efficiently.
  • Monitor work quality and provide on-the-spot training and corrective direction when needed.
  • Communicate regularly with construction managers and subcontractors to maintain alignment on progress and priorities.
  • Proactively identify and resolve field issues that may impact safety, schedule, or budget.
Technical & Administrative Skills
  • Demonstrate expertise in industrial electrical systems, including conduit installation (above and underground), MCC wiring, and control panel assembly.
  • Accurately forecast material, equipment, and labor needs specific to electrical scopes of work.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, time records, and site reports.
  • Perform and oversee skilled and semi-skilled electrical labor as required to support project demands.
  • Inspect tools, vehicles, and test equipment regularly; ensure preventive maintenance and safety compliance.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure team compliance with OSHA, MSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety standards.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead by example and foster a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Mentor field employees, promoting technical skill development, efficiency, and leadership growth.
  • Coordinate efforts with other trades and disciplines to ensure effective integration of electrical systems.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, inspectors, vendors, and subcontractors.
Project Support & Business Development
  • Support estimating efforts by providing field input on scope, labor hours, materials, and constructability.
  • Assist with project budgeting, cost control, and progress tracking in partnership with project management.
  • Participate in pre-construction planning, site walks, and client meetings as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Site Electrical Division Manager on identifying business development opportunities.
  • Help maintain client satisfaction by delivering quality electrical work and representing Smyth Industries professionally on-site.
Safety Leadership
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture; lead daily safety meetings and site inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA, MSHA, environmental, and company safety policies.
  • Assist in investigating electrical-related incidents and near-misses and support the implementation of corrective actions.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Up to 3 years of supervisory experience in electrical construction, including oversight of crews installing conduit, wiring, panels, and related systems.
  • Up to 3 years of experience managing underground electrical utility installation, including coordination of trenching, conduit placement, cable pulling, and backfill operations.
  • Up to 3 years of Project Management experience.
  • Up to 2 years operating a skid steer, mini excavator, and backhoe.
  • 1 year leading 1-2 teams.
  • Self-motivated, task-oriented, leader.
  • Ability to pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) check.
  • Required to possess a valid driver's license and legally be able to operate a company vehicle.
  • Required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must be able to physically perform all required duties which may include bending, lifting 50-pound objects, carrying 50-pound items, squatting, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, working outdoors most of the time, or standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Required to wear company supplied Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be comfortable working in environments with active industrial equipment.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in construction management or any relevant degree.
  • Strong knowledge of water and reclamation construction
  • Highly visible position requiring the ability to influence and persuade; understands the sales process and can close opportunities.
  • Experience using Procore Construction Manager software.
  • Experience managing multiple construction crews across concurrent job sites.
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
