Compensation: $125K – $175K salary + 0.3% - 0.5% equity + benefitsAbout BiomeSense BiomeSense is a gut microbiome company building a breakthrough sample-to-answer intelligence platform to accelerate the development of novel microbiome-based precision medicine. Our proprietary platform integrates GutLab Technology (continuous, standardized, low-cost microbiome tracking) with MetaBiome AI/ML (bioinformatics purpose-built for large-scale microbiome analysis). Together, these form the first massively scalable data/AI infrastructure for the gut microbiome, unlocking biomarker discovery and product development across oncology, nutrition, drug response, and autoimmune disease.We partner with leading institutions and researchers including UCSF, UCSD, NIH, and the University of Chicago, and are backed by investors such as Labcorp Ventures, Bluestein Ventures, Seerave Foundation, and Emil Capital Partners.Role Summary The Chief of Staff will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO, driving alignment, execution, and scale during a critical growth stage. This role is not about administrative support – it is about being a strategic operator and problem-solver who ensures the company executes with speed and precision.Your main role will be to act as a force multiplier for the CEO: translating company priorities into action, bridging communication across teams, managing investor and partner processes, and leading special projects that shape the company’s trajectory.This is a rare opportunity to join a high-growth, venture-backed biotech startup at the inflection point of scaling. - Strategic Alignment & Execution: Ensure leadership focus on top priorities (data growth, biomarker targets, revenue milestones) and track execution against goals
- Fundraising & Investor Relations: Manage CRM, prepare diligence materials, coordinate investor communications, and drive proactive follow-up
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Bridge engineering, bioinformatics, and business development to remove bottlenecks and accelerate deliverables
- Board & Partner Engagement: Support logistics and prep for board meetings, advisor sessions, and major partnership discussions
- Strategic Projects: Lead CEO-delegated initiatives such as competitive intelligence, partnership diligence, and grant opportunity management
- Risk Management: Serve as an 'early-warning system' for execution risks, misalignment, or resource constraints
- 3–6 years of relevant experience (consulting, venture capital, investment banking, or startup operations)
- Proven ability to structure and drive complex projects in ambiguous, high-pressure environments
- Exceptional communication skills – written, verbal, and executive presentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; comfort working with data and financial models
- High discretion, professionalism, and trustworthiness with sensitive information
- MBA or advanced degree
- Experience in biotech, healthtech, or data-driven life sciences
- Prior early-stage startup experience
- Structured, pragmatic thinker who can impose order without unnecessary bureaucracy
- Ambitious but low-ego – thrives in a role focused on leverage and execution, not spotlight
- Comfortable context-switching between investors, scientists, and operators
- Fast learner with intellectual range and adaptability
- Action-oriented, with a focus on solving problems rather than just flagging them
- Able to work independently or as part of a team
- Salary: $125K–$175K, depending on experience
