- Develop and implement global trade compliance strategies to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to import/export controls, customs regulations, sanctions programs, and trade agreements.
- Manage import/export processes, including classification, valuation, licensing, and documentation requirements, to facilitate the smooth flow of goods across borders while minimizing delays and costs.
- Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify areas of potential risk or non-compliance and implement corrective actions as necessary in support of continued membership in the CBP Importer Self Assessment program and the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism program.
- Stay abreast of changes in trade regulations and advise internal stakeholders on potential impacts to the business, providing recommendations for proactive compliance measures.
- Establish and maintain relationships with relevant regulatory agencies, industry associations, and trade partners to ensure a comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Provide guidance and training to internal teams, including supply chain, logistics, procurement, and legal, on trade compliance matters to ensure a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement trade compliance processes and systems, leveraging technology and automation where possible to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on trade compliance matters, providing guidance and support to internal stakeholders on complex issues and transactions.
- Manage and mentor a team of trade compliance professionals, providing leadership, direction, and professional development opportunities.
- Active, good-standing US Customs broker’s license.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Relations, Supply Chain Management, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 12+ years of experience in global trade compliance, with a strong understanding of import/export regulations, Foreign Trade Zone regulations and processes, customs processes, and trade compliance best practices.
- In-depth knowledge of international trade laws and regulations, including but not limited to ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing trade compliance strategies in a complex, multinational environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in FTZ software systems including Integration Point/OneSource.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to manage and mentor a team of trade compliance professionals.
