- a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering
- 8+ years of electrical engineering experience (for Plant Electrical)
- 8+ years of experience in engineering design / operation of industrial electrical systems (for Campus Electrical)
- Texas Professional Engineer's License (PE) (preferred)What is the work?
Engineering:
PLANT ELECTRICAL [remove other section before posting]
- Supports Manufacturing / Warehouse / Transportation (MWT) capital projects by supplying engineering expertise in scope development, specification, and design for building electrical system projects
- Assists engineering manager in developing the overall electrical maintenance strategy for plant electrical systems
- Develops / implements long-range maintenance capital and expense plans for building electrical infrastructure
- Creates / maintains one-line models of electrical power distribution systems within assigned plants
- Ensures development, completion and currency of arc flash, short circuit, and coordination studies for assigned MWT facilities
- Inspects plant electric utility systems on a periodic basis; observes new construction to ensure compliance with design and equipment specifications and industry safety standards
- Owns low voltage equipment specification and design strategy
- Serves as SME for plant electrical systems, providing support to maintenance teams as needed to troubleshoot intermittent issues and recover from unplanned outages or service interruption.
CAMPUS ELECTRICAL UTILITY [remove other section before posting]
- Provides engineering support for the design, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of facility electrical systems from the utility meter to the building switchboard for multiple campus locations
- Maintains campus electrical infrastructure design standards and one-line diagrams
- Works day-to-day with consulting engineers as needed
- Owns medium-voltage equipment specification and design strategy
- Interacts with code authority, GC, and design teams regarding regulation / code compliance for all electrical equipment and installations
- Serves as internal electrical SME for industrial related projects such as expansions, remodels, new builds
- Serves as SME to ensure H-E-B compliance with legal guidelines and safety requirements
- Resolves outstanding electrical performance issues; recommends best solutions to fix or mitigate issues
- Applies experience and knowledge of low- and medium-voltage motor control centers, switchboards, lighting panels, and other electrical components for troubleshooting / repair of performance and safety issues
- Contributes to decisions related to H-E-B strategic objectives, program standards, and budget planning
- Provides technical assistance to contractors
- Keeps current on latest technical innovations in electrical engineering; maintains professional / technical knowledge; reviews professional publications, participates in professional societies; attends training / educational workshops
- Mentors / shares technical expertise with other Partners
- Provides technical guidance and training on electrical safe work practices
- Mentors / guides team members; provides leadership and expertise to cross-functional teams on plant electrical subjectsProject Management:
- Manages projects from conception through completion; manages overall timelines and milestones for multiple projects
- Performs code research and regulatory assessments
- Makes project site visits; recognizes / documents / resolves issues to comply with design intent and construction documents
- Interacts with multiple entities, including code authorities, on regulation and code compliance
- Serves as an expert; provides direction and strategic guidance to design development and process improvements
- Develops clear work plans, processes, and actions to support H-E-B's overall strategies and best interests and achieve resultsWhat is your background?
- Bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering (ABET accredited program)
- 8+ years of electrical engineering experience (for Plant Electrical)
- 8+ years of experience in engineering design / operation of industrial electrical systems (for Campus Electrical)
- Experience in three phase systems, including transformers and campus distribution (for Campus Electrical)
- Experience with high / med / low voltage power distribution, MCCs, breaker panels, switch stations, troubleshooting electrical issues, utility power, etc. (for Campus Electrical)
- Professional Engineer's license in the state of Texas (preferred)Do you have what it takes to be a fit as a Senior Electrical Engineer at H-E-B?
