- Set up, change, change over, and operate line according to production specifications
- Inspect equipment before and monitor equipment during production. Confirm that it is working properly by checking process parameters and indicators.
- Set up specific part programs and parameters for metal stamping presses, feed lines, and dies using the company’s standard practices and procedures
- Perform quality checks according to the company’s procedures to verify die set up prior to production run
- Initiate work orders for dies going into triage rack or die shop for repairs
- Make and maintain shims for blank and form dies
- Maintain die racks and mounting plates in organized manner
- Fix broken punches or sections of dies in the press or die shop
- Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with fixtures or templates to ensure conformance with specifications
- Report production quantities and labor detail accurately and according to the company’s recording process
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and identify the cause of errors, problems and defects
- Maintain production related documents and logs to ensure availability and accuracy
- Review production scheduling reports with Supervision to ensure production activity aligns with customer demand and corporate inventory goals
- Ensure team members have the appropriate equipment, tools, and material to work on their assigned job
- Monitors and audits shift’s production activity to ensure safety and quality procedures are adhered to.
- Audits compliance with standard work instructions and process control plans to ensure production of good parts.
- Audits production entries of other operators in the absence of Supervision
- Assists Supervision with cross training and employee development within the department
- Reviews un-planned scrap with employees and Supervision to identify root cause and implement effective countermeasures.
- Champions the Quick and Easy Kaizen program by actively soliciting suggestions and helping team members implement product and process improvements.
- Operate material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead crane, etc to move raw material and parts as needed
- Able to lift up to 50lbs
- Perform other duties as required or assigned by supervisor
- Follow all OSHA and internal safety standards
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
- Experience with standard shop measuring tools and hand tools required
- Exceptional attendance record required
- Experience operating metal stamping presses preferred
- Ability to perform standard shop computations (math)
- Ability to read schematics (blue prints) and engineering drawings
- Ability to perform basic maintenance of equipment
- Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures
- Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments as well as work within a team environment
