- Knowledge of coastal sciences/engineering and coastal geology, of the statutes, rules, and policies related to coastal construction and environmental resources, pursuant to Chapters 161, 373 and 403, Florida Statutes.
- Knowledge of coastal hydrodynamics, nearshore sediment transport mechanisms, ocean inlet tidal hydrodynamics, and coastal geomorphology.
- Ability to apply coastal science principles related to beach and inlet management activities.
- Ability to evaluate and interpret scientific or technical data.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in a tactful and courteous manner.
- Ability to travel to conduct field investigations and collect technical data.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to get along and work well with fellow employees and the public.
- At least six years of verifiable related experience. Post-secondary degrees from an accredited college or university with a major in coastal engineering, coastal geology, geology or environmental science with coastal track course concentration, or related coastal studies may be used as an alternative for the required six years of experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Ability to successfully complete a background and fingerprint check.
