A day in the life:
Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned
Secure cargo for transport using appropriate equipment (i.e., chains, straps, covers, tie-downs)
Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy
Maintain equipment in proper operating condition and performing simple preventive maintenance tasks
Follow all department, jobsite, and customer protocols in the delivery/pick-up of cargo
Ensure all paperwork is delivered with associated delivery for field installation
Follow all appropriate safety procedures in the transportation of cargo
Flexibility to work hours that can increase and decrease intermittently
You should have:
Possess a valid Class A CDL (tractor) commercial drivers license
Updated medical card and experience hauling 48/53' flatbeds and vans
Ability to drive on construction sites (i.e., tight spaces, rough terrain)
safe driving practices with various types of commercial vehicles and construction equipment
knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and DOT requirements
Prepare material for delivery and notify proper persons of shipment
Ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with customers and employees
Ability to maintain a sense of urgency but remain calm when handling emergencies
