- Facilitate lesson plan instructions to students, including 1:1 and small group provides input and helps facilitate social and emotional learning components of lesson plans.
- Develop and issue educational content including notes, tests, and assignments.
- Supervise classes to ensure all students are learning in a safe and productive environment.
- Organize supplies and resources for lectures and presentations.
- Deliver personalized instruction to each student by encouraging interactive learning.
- Plan and implement educational activities and events.
- Presenting lessons in a comprehensive manner and use visual/audio means to facilitate learning.
- Providing individualized instruction to each student by promoting interactive learning.
- Creating and distributing educational content.
- Ensure classroom is clean and orderly.
- Allocate and grade homework, assignments, and tests.
- Responsible for observing, implementing, monitoring and completing specific reports regarding student performance and behaviors in the classroom.
- Responsible for providing pre-crisis intervention and conflict resolution with student, including implementing and using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) principles and approved behavior modification techniques/strategies.
- This position will comply with all federal, state and local laws and regulations, including those of NYS Office of Children and Family Services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Proficient knowledge and skills with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to work with an economically and culturally diverse population.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with students, staff, and external partners.
- Outstanding organizational abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Schedule - (Monday to Friday 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM - year round)
- Compensation - $75,000 to $90,000 per year depending on experience, education, and skills.
- Minimum of (3) years of practical teaching experience. Middle school & high school teaching experience, required.
- NYS Department of Education Teaching Certification for Adolescents 7-12, required.
- Teaching experience in a High School Alternative School Setting, highly preferred.
- Proficient knowledge and skills with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Must have a valid driver’s license. Ability to travel if needed.
