Job PurposeTo safely and efficiently unload logs from logging trucks into appropriate storage areas or cribsIn this position you will have the opportunity to:
  • Operate crane controls to unload logs from trucks and load surge decks
  • Separate logs by species and age while ensuring the cribs remains balanced and level
  • Rotate the log yard, always start with oldest wood first
  • Frequently communicate with Strander Operator and Log Truck Driver
  • Coordinate operations amongst coworkers
  • Inspect and perform routine maintenance on equipment
  • Fill out and maintain all required documentation
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations
What do I need to be successful?Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of simple equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of general equipment maintenance.
  • Time management skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules and regulations.
Education:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years crane operator experience
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
