- Interpret pole data and use GIS shapefiles, ArcGIS Pro, and tools like Street View to inform high-quality route decisions.
- Utilize or collaborate with teams using CrescentLink, 3-GIS, or similar platforms for mapping and fiber planning.
- Collaborate with design, PM, and QA/QC teams to improve efficiency, reduce rework, and ensure field readiness.
- Advise on future-proof design (e.g., Viper placements, recloser strategy, redundancy) and recognize value opportunities (cost/time savings).
- Take ownership in proactively identifying issues, elevating engineering standards, and driving first-pass quality.
- 5–10+ years of fiber design experience in utility distribution settings.
- Strong understanding of fiber cable types (ADSS, Loose Tube, Micro Core), optical route planning, GPON, ONT/OLT systems, and overall network architecture.
- Experience integrating various fiber network configurations—including overhead, underground, and long-haul fiber—into cohesive distribution designs.
- Deep knowledge of splice planning, storage loop placement, pole attachments, and constructability best practices.
- Proficient in ArcGIS Pro with working knowledge of CrescentLink, 3-GIS, or equivalent fiber mapping tools.
- Familiar with client fiber processes, including: JETS OSP Insight SCADA workflows and router provisioning GIS/OSP shapefile and pole data analysis experience.
- Able to step into a consultative role—making design recommendations, challenging flawed assumptions, and improving outcomes
