Reports to: VP of FinanceOur client is a rapidly growing firm seeking a highly capable Assistant Controller to support the financial operations across multiple entities. This role will work directly with the VP of Finance and play a critical role in day-to-day accounting, reporting, and analysis to support strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate brings a strong accounting foundation within alternative investments or commoditie and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee daily accounting functions: A/P, A/R, payroll, journal entries, and reconciliationsMaintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with US GAAPPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsAnalyze financial data to support business decisions and improve performanceAssist in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planningSupport audit and tax processes, acting as liaison with external partnersSupervise and mentor junior accounting staff as the team growsContribute to process improvements, internal controls, and systems enhancementsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)5+ years of accounting experience (public/private mix ideal)Prior supervisory experience preferredStrong technical proficiency (Excel, financial systems; QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.)Experience with consolidations and intercompany transactionsAnalytical, detail-oriented, and proactive mindsetThis is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and growing organization with direct access to senior leadership and the ability to make a meaningful impact from day one.Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
