This position is seasonal and offers PTO, benefits, and competitive pay. The pay rate is based on years of relevant asphalt lab and testing experience - and offers room for advancement.As an Asphalt Quality Control Technician a day in the life might include:
  • Sampling and testing of Asphalt mixtures as well as aggregate products.
  • Understanding test data and keeping record of test results.
  • Maintaining laboratory workspace as well as laboratory equipment.
  • Understanding the process of keeping materials in specification.
  • Communicating with production staff and direct supervisor.

Work EnvironmentThis position operates 80% of the time in a laboratory environment, 20% outdoors.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position that regularly requires long hours and weekend work. Some night work as needed, with applicable night-shift differential.This role might be a good fit for you if you:
  • Have 2+ years' experience with asphalt sampling and lab testing.
  • Can demonstrate strong computer skills.
  • Are willing to be assigned to a different location on a day-to-day basis, primarily within the South Metro area.
  • Can obtain MNDOT certification for Aggregate Production and Asphalt Tester within 12 months. Martin Marietta will train and pay for certification classes.
  • Have a High School diploma or equivalent and a valid, unrestricted driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minnesota Dept. of Transportation (MNDOT) Aggregate Production Certification
  • MNDOT Bituminous I (Tester) Certification
  • MNDOT Bituminous II (Mix Designer) Certification
