REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal and Athletic CoordinatorJOB GOAL: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: * Coaches’ individual participants in the basic skills necessary for participation in the sport at this level and beyond.
  • Schedules and plans a regular program of practice before and during the season, adhering to the OHSAA guidelines.
  • Works closely with the athletic coordinator.
  • Maintains necessary forms and records.
  • Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.
  • Maintains discipline to protect student athletes.
  • Oversees and maintains the safety conditions of the facilities and equipment.
  • Enforces the district’s policy regarding eligibility and code of conduct.
  • Enforces self-discipline and sportsman-like behavior at all times.
  • Maintains communication with parents & parent organizations.
  • Oversees the duties and activities of assistant coaches as required.
  • Inventories equipment and supplies and reports to athletic coordinator.
  • Maintains close working relationship with varsity head coach.
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS: * Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
  • May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.
  • Excellent observation and communication skills
  • Supervision of students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, and hallways, or on field trips
  • Assisting students with behavioral/management needs
  • Ability to interact with a diverse population of internal and external stakeholders.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year as established by the Board and terms of contract.EVALUATION: Performance of this job is evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel and provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
