Position Summary:The Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the IR Vein Clinic provides comprehensive care to patients with venous disease under the supervision of an interventional radiologist.The NP runs the weekly IR Vein Clinic to triage and coordinate care and treatment plans.The NP conducts patient assessments, orders and reviews diagnostic tests, provides pre- and post-procedural education, and coordinates follow-up care. This role supports a collaborative, patient-centered model focused on quality outcomes and vein health.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform detailed history and physical exams focused on venous disorders (e.g., varicose veins, venous insufficiency, DVT).
  • Evaluate patients for treatment candidacy and assist with procedure planning (e.g., vein ablation, sclerotherapy, phlebectomy).
  • Orders and reviews diagnostic imaging (e.g., venous duplex ultrasound).
  • Educate patients on venous disease, procedures, compression therapy, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Obtain informed consent and provide pre- and post-procedure care instructions.
  • Perform or assist with non-invasive procedures (sclerotherapy, laser therapy, if appropriately trained).
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and ultrasound technologists to deliver coordinated care.
  • Document all encounters, assessments, plans, and follow-ups in the EMR according to clinic policies.
  • Participate in quality assurance, clinical audits, and process improvement activities.
  • Stay current with best practices in vein disease management and attend relevant continuing education.
Education & Licensure:
  • Current IL RN License
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner license (APRN) in the state of practice.
  • Certification as a Family or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANP).
  • BLS certification (required); ACLS preferred.
Experience:
  • 1–2 years of experience as an RN or NP in vascular, interventional radiology, dermatology, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with venous procedures (sclerotherapy, vein ablation, wound care) highly desirable.
Skills:
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Competence in interpreting vascular imaging and formulating treatment plans.
  • Excellent communication, patient education, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in EMR documentation.
