- Possess and demonstrate a high level of working knowledge and aptitude with thermodynamics, compressed gases, pumps, valves, programmable logic controllers, human machine interfaces, robotics, variable frequency drives, digital control systems (Delta V, ABB, Andover)
- Capable of software program parameter and logic states review to facilitate troubleshooting and remediation
- Calibrate various types of process equipment and control elements to include: electronic, pneumatic, temperature, pressure, level, flow, analytical devices, NIST Standards
- Work independently and as a Team Leader to troubleshoot and provide sound technical and engineering solutions for complex equipment, process and control issues
- Locate/identify replacement parts, coordinate multiple and interdisciplinary work requests, and investigate equipment repair history using the CMMS
- Provide detailed documentation of all calibration, troubleshooting, and repair activities, and use a CMMS to document work activity
- Issue/complete job hazard analysis/safe work permits (hot work, excavating, confined space, hazardous atmosphere, etc.)
- Adhere to cGMP, Safety and Environmental requirements
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, job plans and/or equipment manuals to perform work
- Responsible for maintaining training curriculum requirements.
- Willing to initiate and drive system change as needed for robustness of systems. Able to specify new field equipment that follows plant standards for material clearance and ease of maintenance
- Assist with modification, installation and startup of new and existing instrumentation, process control systems and equipment
- Develop and administer qualification requirements
- Train and mentor other technicians
- Assume role of Lead Technician and Supervisor Designate when requested
- Weekly and as needed updates on important projects and problems with Instrumentation Supervisor
- Communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal form
- Perform as a team leader
- Build positive working relationships with cross-functional teams across multiple business units
- Use communication skills to effectively resolve problems with technical personnel including department managers, supervisors, and outside technical support
- Understands how Utilities equipment functions in process applications
- Responsible for training of other technicians
- Develop electronic data sheets
- Read, interpret, and apply information from files, drawings, catalogs, reports, and manuals
- Demonstrate strong mathematical skills with the ability to apply this knowledge to the various tasks assigned.
- Understand current Good Manufacturing Practice requirements
- Understand industrial plant safety and environment requirements
- Knowledge and training as required by OSHA on applicable safe work practices and process safety management
- Experience with multiple maintenance crafts (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, piping, HVAC); with the ability to apply this knowledge to the complete, timely, technically correct, cost-effective calibration and troubleshooting activities
- Understand technical documentation, i.e. piping and instrument diagrams, instrument loop diagrams, electrical schematics, precision machine part drawing, programmable ladder logic, mechanical assembly, software function documents, sequence of operations, OEM information
- Complete required Instrumentation Qualifications
- Associates degree in a relevant technical field
- 8 years relevant experience
- Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements.
