Learn More: https://www.mathworks.com/company/jobs/resources/applying-and-interviewing.html#onboarding.As the Manager of the IT Observability and Automation team, you will lead a team of engineers helping MathWorkers gain deeper insight into the health of their systems and implement toil-reducing/self-recovering automation. As part of the IT Platform Engineering product group, you will collaborate and partner with Business Application teams, InfoSec, Product IT teams, and Enterprise IT teams. You will lead innovative advancements in this space while driving common practices across the enterprise.The ideal candidate should have previous experience as a software engineer and have a background in developing modern distributed applications.MathWorks nurtures growth, appreciates diversity, encourages initiative, values teamwork, shares success, and rewards excellence.
  • Coach, mentor, and lead a team of observability and automation engineers.
  • Develop and maintain observability and automation platform vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Manage 3rd party and open-source software selection, renewals, and overall lifecycle management.
  • Manage stakeholder and partner relationships, expectations, and communication.
  • Drive observability and automation best practices across the enterprise.
  • Knowledge of observability, monitoring, and alerting(in cloud-native environments, containers/kubernetes, distributed systems, custom applications (such as Java/Spring-Boot applications), and in 3rd party software).
  • Proven track record of growing engineers, investing in their careers, and building a nurturing environment.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and make trade-offs based on priorities, resource contentions, and other impacting factors.
  • Knowledge of IT Jobs Scheduling, Cron Jobs, and other automation capabilities.
  • Knowledge of Vulnerability Management and other InfoSec domain areas that intersect with Observability.
  • Knowledge of streaming and messaging capabilities (such as RabbitMQ).
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (especially in AWS).
