Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the Social Media Content Manager. This position reports directly to the Director of Digital Content and is located in River Forest, IL.Reporting to the Director of Digital Content, this position is integral to the University's overall strategic marketing and recruitment initiatives. As technology and digital media continue to rapidly evolve as a trusted and primary method of internal and external communication, the Social Media Content Manager will develop and execute social media content designed to build brand awareness, deepen engagement, drive leads and enrollments, and support fundraising efforts.Success in this position will require the talent and experience to create content based on the understanding of CUC's brand, social audience's consumption habits and analytics, adapting new and current strategies, and researching and recommending new engagement tactics and technologies.Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Create original, high-quality content for prospective student audiences.
  • Develop a uniquely crafted voice and related content that adheres to the organizational marketing strategy, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences as appropriate.
  • Guide and collaborate with various University departments, directing strategy of existing social media accounts and creative development of new social media presences.
  • Monitor the impact of social media by tracking metrics and analyzing effectiveness of individual posts and campaigns, with the goal of continuous improvement in content performance.
  • Lead social media listening and community management strategy; identify, elevate, and react to spikes in conversation from a client relations, customer service, and/or media relations standpoint.
  • Respond to and engage with prospective and current students as well as other constituents; represent the University in a positive and professional manner in line with CUC's values and mission.
  • Research and monitor new social media trends and technologies/platforms, including best practices, in order to guide current use and recommend future opportunities
  • Work with other communicators across campus to ensure all university social media channels are following best practices and working to grow their audiences.
  • Track, report and respond to social media metrics and engagement, troubleshooting and pivoting when necessary.
  • Crisis communication support including account monitoring, social listening and disseminating emergency messaging as appropriate.

  • Understanding of and hands-on experience managing social media in an organizational marketing-communications context.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of social media concepts as evidenced by prior management of social media accounts for a business or organization.
  • Understanding of supporting application platforms and software and related issues.
  • Understanding of and hands-on experience managing social media in an organizational marketing-communications context.
  • Experience working with other content creators and/or sourcing user-generated content.
  • Ability to react quickly to rapidly evolving technology, software and electronic communication platforms.
  • Familiarity with best-in-class examples of successful brand/organization use of social media.
  • Ability to initiate ideas, develop concepts, review processes and ensure professional standards and high quality in all communications.
  • An understanding and passion for the social media universe.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with excellent organization, planning and attention to details in collaboration with others.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to prioritize and to consistently meet deadlines is essential.
  • Outstanding creative written and verbal communication, interpersonal, analysis and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated familiarity with AP style.
  • Ability to prioritize projects and work both independently and in team settings.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, digital communications, public relations or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated commitment to learning and continuous improvement.
  • Prior experience using a comprehensive social media management system (eg. Sprout, Hootsuite, etc.) to post and manage content, and to review analytics to assess post/campaign success preferred.
Minimum Experience Required: Minimum 2-4 years' experience in marketing/communications related to social media and/or digital marketing. Work experience in higher education or non-profit organizations highly desirable.Education Requirements:Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, social media or related discipline.Compensation and Benefits:(FULL-TIME) Starting range is dependent upon individual qualifications and experience.
