ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, sterilizing equipment, and arranging necessary supplies such as surgical drapes, sponges, and gowns
Ensure all equipment is functioning properly before the surgery begins, this may include surgical lights, suction machines, and monitoring devices
Assist with preparing and draping the surgical site on the patient to maintain a sterile field, helping prevent infections
Hand instruments, sponges, and other supplies to surgeons and nurses as needed throughout the procedure, know the functions of each tool, and anticipate what the surgeon may need next
Monitor the sterile field and ensure it remains uncontaminated, if anything becomes unsterile, it is their responsibility to quickly replace it or inform the team
Count all instruments, sponges, and other materials before and after surgery
Reset the operating room after surgery, ensure it is stocked and organized for the next procedure, following strict protocols for safety and hygiene
QualificationsBefore we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:
High school diploma or equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014
Graduate of an ORT training program or on the job training with a minimum of 3 years experience (surgical setting preferred)
Experience in scrubbing minor and major procedures in the generalized surgical specialties, (i.e., GYN, General and Plastics)
Experience in scrubbing at least minor procedures in the specialty surgical areas (i.e., ortho, neuro, ENT, Uro. Etc.)
Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
