EOI Space is looking for a Ground Systems Engineer to help develop and scale our ground system as we prepare for satellite operations.What you will do:The Ground Systems Engineer supports the design and development/procurement of ground-based software, vhardware, and procedures required to operate the mission side of EOI’s constellation. The work spans developing requirements and high-level design through detailed design, development or procurement, integration, and testing for components across the ground system. You will work withinternal stakeholders, customers, and external software and hardware vendors, both domestic andInternational.In this role, you are responsible for engineering and technical support for EOI and customer product fulfillment flow to include Order Management, Collection Planning and Image Operations during thedesign and development phase of the program. Work will include creation and management of system requirements; the derivation of software requirements to implement the software design, and support for the testing and deploying of these applications into an EOI AWS Cloud environment. This will require the candidate to work with the software team to plan, implement and demonstrate capability in an ongoing basis per the Agile Sprint cycles with multiple external vendors.Responsibilities:· Define the system requirements for Order Manager, Collection Planning and Scheduling software applications, and Image Operations process to include system design, and oversight of the implementation and testing of these applications by using an Agile development methodology in a cloud environment· Ensure mission, ordering, and collection workflows are implemented correctly and integrated to the system by working with system integration team· Ensure delivery of these applications using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for build and deployment· Understand, analyze, and support scheduling algorithms of moderate scope and complexity by working with vendors· Communicate status and issues effectively with developers and managers· Define technical user stories to affect an optimal system design implementation by working directly with other Product Owners, System Engineers, Program Managers, Developers, Testers, and customers· Communicate and present engineering concepts to the Program Management teamRequired Qualifications:· 5+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, and operating ground/satellite planning and scheduling systems for commercial or USG· 5+ years of direct experience in satellite imagery tasking, particularly ordering, planning, production, and delivery· 3+ years direct LEO satellite operation experience· Extensive understanding of EO satellite ground system and management of components· Strong fundamentals in orbital mechanics and optimization algorithms· Linux, Python or equivalent programming language and experience with production-grade code as well as CI/CD pipelines· B.S. in Engineering, Physics or equivalent combination of technical education and related work· experienceCompensation:The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $170,000 per year, depending on previous experience. Pay ranges are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data.
