We have the perfect opportunity for you .... if you are an experienced CAREGIVER, or if you simply have a nurturing spirit. And if you want to earn money while making a difference in someone's life.Our agency -- Close to Home Caregivers -- is looking for caregivers living within reasonable driving range of Venice -- such as North Port, Port Charlotte, Englewood, Punta Gorda. Specifically we need people available to do WEEKEND SHIFTS. Some shifts may be shorter -- 4 to 6 hours. Others may be longer -- 8, 10 or 12 hours. Tell us your preferences in shift lengths and days of the week -- we'll try to find the right match for you.About our Clients:
  • Some of our clients face cognitive challenges such as dementia, or physical challenges such as Parkinson’s.
  • Some remain mostly independent and take care of themselves in the bathroom but need companionship, light housekeeping, laundry help, maybe a sandwich prepared at lunchtime.
  • Others need significant help with the Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing and toileting. Some are fall risks. You decide if you are comfortable with such clients. No issues if you are not.
Your Tasks:
  • Tending to the safety and comfort of clients with a wide variety of needs. You may need to walk with a client who is a fall risk, or transfer them into a wheelchair and move them about.
  • Monitoring a client’s condition while providing companionship and emotional support.
  • Reminding clients to take their meds.
  • Doing light housekeeping for clients no longer able to tidy up their homes.
  • Accompanying client to appointments or outings as needed.
  • Reporting any changes in the client's condition to the care management team.
What we're looking for:
  • Prior experience in caregiving preferred but not required; training provided to those eager to learn.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with clients and their families
  • Valid Florida driver's license and a reliable vehicle (with current registration and insurance).
  • A Level II background clearance. We can guide you in securing this if you do not have it.
  • A lack of any felony convictions.
  • An HHA certificate (we can help), a CPR certificate (we can help).
Wage:
  • Our starting rate is $18.00/hour. It can be flexible in some cases.
