The Residential Floor Covering Estimator is responsible for accurately measuring, evaluating, and preparing cost estimates for residential flooring projects. This role involves visiting job sites, reviewing plans, assessing site conditions, and collaborating with sales staff, installers, and customers to ensure precise material quantities, competitive pricing, and smooth project execution.Location: Salem, NHKey Responsibilities
- Site Measuring & Assessment
(carpet, hardwood, laminate, vinyl, tile, etc.).
o Evaluate substrate conditions, layout requirements, and potential installation challenges.
o Take detailed notes, photos, and sketches to aid in estimating and installation planning.
- Estimating & Proposal Preparation
o Prepare clear, accurate, and timely job estimates using company provided tablet.
o Collaborate with sales representatives to develop competitive bids and proposals.
- Customer Interaction
o Explain measurement and estimating results to customers when needed.
o Answer technical questions related to flooring products and installation.
o Explain the installation process to the customer and what they need to do to prepare for the day of installation.
- Administrative & Reporting
o Update job information in the company CRM or project management system. We use RFMS.
o Follow up with sales and operations teams to track project progress.Qualifications Required:
- 2+ years of experience in residential floor covering estimating, installation, or sales.
- Strong knowledge of flooring materials, installation methods, and industry standards.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Excellent math, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and architectural drawings.
- Familiarity with moisture testing, substrate prep requirements, and flooring manufacturer guidelines.
- Background in construction estimating or project management.
- Combination of office work and on-site field measurements.
- Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Occasional evening or weekend appointments based on customer needs.
