Preferred QualificationsOne year experience in public safety/law enforcement, a related field, or comparable educational experience.
Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesKnowledge of proper law enforcement officer behavior and role. Knowledge of modern law enforcement techniques and procedures. Knowledge of how to collect and preserve evidence. Knowledge of the legal rights of both suspects and law enforcement personnel. Knowledge of the laws of South Carolina, and policies of the University. Knowledge of the functions and interrelationships of other law enforcement agencies. Skill in the operation of law enforcement vehicles, weapons, and communications equipment. Must be physically qualified and able to successfully pass a background investigation.Job DutiesJob DutyPatrols assigned area to prevent crime and detect violations of law and Policy / apprehends and arrests violators. Responds to complaints, reports of violations and requests for assistance. Keeps records and makes reports regarding all activities. Assists with crime prevention measures and programs. Conducts preliminary investigations
