The Patient Access Supervisor supervises the Customer Service Representative positions in inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and medical group departments of the organization in accordance with hospital policy and state and federal regulations. The Patient Access Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a warm, welcoming professional atmosphere. This position works collaboratively with all members of the health care team to provide leadership and supervision to coordinate and enhance the patient experience. The Patient Access Supervisor provides technical resources and supervision to caregivers performing registration, scheduling, insurance authorizations, face to face and phone customer service. The Patient Access Supervisor also insures adequate staffing, audits, accuracy of work, and reinforces customer service standards and may fill in as a Customer Service Representative as needed. This individual assists with training and providing resources for both new and existing caregivers. The Patient Access Supervisor exemplifies the CMH Promise of Excellence and acts in accordance with CMH policies and procedures.Job Requirements
Knowledge of/Skill/Ability to:
Must provide leadership and communication to caregivers regarding procedures and computer applications. Have the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize the completion of the tasks. Ability to process data such as daily registration audits for performance tracking. Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills are necessary. Must be an exceptional relationship builder. Stress and time management skills when working under pressure. Understanding of insurance and medical terminology. Effective training and customer service skills. Must possess strong organizational and exercise independent judgment as needed and be able to perform all the aforementioned in a fast paced, dynamic environment.License/Certification
NoneEducation and/or Experience
High School diploma or equivalent experience/education preferred. Medical terminology knowledge preferred. Previous experience in medical office setting such as hospital admissions, billing, or medical office preferred. Previous experience in a leadership position preferred.Physical Demands and Work Environment Conditions / ADA Compliance
Position involves standing, walking, stooping, and occasional carrying and lifting or lightweight materials (up to 20 pounds). May be required to sit for extended periods of time. Requires visual acuity and depth perception to recognize words and numbers; and hand and finger dexterity and hand/eye coordination to use a computer keyboard and common office equipment. Potential for contact with blood, body fluids or tissues. Working in multiple locations including rounding (on-campus and offsite) locations will be required.
