JOB PURPOSE:Assists with wide range of reports and statistics to support the University's priorities and funding efforts. Incorporates the collection, analysis and reporting of data to enhance strategic planning, academic and administrative assessment, and decision making in order to improve the quality of educational and student services and to ensure student success.This position description indicates in general the nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, and abilities. It is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities required or assigned to this position.JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Acquires and stores accurate data in a computer data base for subsequent retrieval to provide dependable analysis and reporting.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and produces data reports to facilitate reporting requirements and decisions necessitating analytical input.
  • Compiles special reports in response to internal and external requests in order to provide accessible data for reliable analysis, management review, research purposes and/or reporting requirements.
  • Participates in the planning and design of data reporting forms and formats to establish data record systems and documents.
  • Collaborates with University community to set appropriate research and assessment goals.
  • Works with individuals and committees to assure that the right data is reaching them, and is being used effectively.
  • Ensures that accurate data is used in decision making at all appropriate levels.
  • Assists in collecting, retrieving, analyzing and reporting institutional data.
  • Provides data for accreditation at the state and federal levels.
  • Uses University data collection instruments and systems, and integrates these data into the University's strategic planning processes.
  • Helps to ensure that data collected is valid, reliable, and consistent throughout all the University's reporting mechanisms.
  • Assists with providing appropriate data for strategic planning to decision makers.
  • Assists with providing data for program reporting, proposal writing and legislative advocacy as needed.
  • Assists with collecting data, preparing data for statistical analysis, processing documents and materials, calculating values, using mathematical calculations, graphs, and tables.
  • Assists with preparing an annual data based report for public information, marketing, and analysis, reflecting the University's research and strategic planning processes.
  • Assists with training University staff in effective use of the data collecting and reporting capabilities of these instruments.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate degree with strong academic background in educational research, database analysis and data based decision making.
  • Three years experience in data collection and analysis:
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass background check, with NO prior convictions of any felonies.

  • Knowledge of academic standards, data based review and validation of educational institution outcomes, and program, policy and procedure quality controls preferred.
  • Knowledge of Information Technologies including database research and development and WEB based research and higher education networking.
  • Knowledge of research methodology, principles and procedures.
  • Records maintenance skills.
  • Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, Databases, and presentation software (such as PowerPoint).
  • Skill in training others in data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to run and analyze reports using software to capture data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
  • Ability to prepare research reports and proposals.
  • Ability to utilize statistical computer software.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the Navajo and English language.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit for prolonged periods, walk and stand.
  • Use hands for dexterity of motion, repetitive movement of both hands.
  • Have normal auditory, visual acuity, and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull upwards of 25 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work is generally performed in office setting.
  • Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
