Job Summary:
The SQE works with our suppliers and supply chain sources to continuously improve performance of products by implementing process controls and developing quality assurance plans. The SQE tracks data, identifies improvement projects, and manages cross functional implementation to improve performance of products and suppliers. This role investigates, analyses and resolves supplier quality issues by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends and leading continuous improvement projects and initiatives.Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety and Quality Assurance policies.
  • Partner with the Purchasing team to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.
  • Maintain and update critical supplier audit system and schedule.
  • Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPI’s, including supplier on-time-delivery times, defective parts, quality issues, and waste. Actively manage suppliers to ensure there are no regressions with the implementation of new processes.
  • Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting Energy Hardware’s requirements and expectations. Projects may include process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and through-put analysis, 6-sigma, 5s, and Kaizen events.
  • Ensure supplier compliance to all legal requirements pertaining to the environmental aspects and impacts, while providing recommendations that lead to improved environmental performance whenever possible.
  • Establish short-term and long-term supplier quality goals and communicate those accordingly to suppliers while ensuring they met our technical specifications.
  • Champion problem solving and root-cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances, initiating necessary actions as required to prevent occurrence of non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.
  • Hold suppliers accountable and coordinate resolution of technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply chain while identifying, recording, and measuring any issues relating to the product process and quality systems.
  • Build and develop long-term supplier relationships while generating and implementing cost reduction ideas. Coordinate in the new, probationary and rejected supplier transition processes.
  • Travel to supplier locations to resolve any quality or performance issues as needed.
  • Support the organization with evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials following a defined new product development process.
  • Drive a “zero-defects” mind-set within the supply chain base.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of quality systems methodologies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to successfully conduct presentations
  • Team-player who works well with diverse groups of people with the ability to function independently of direct supervision
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects and requests, accurately and simultaneously, with follow through to completion
  • Ability to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events
  • Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and communication skills; comfortable interfacing with all levels of employees as well as all types of customers
  • Advanced computer skills using MS Office applications including: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Willingness and ability to travel (approximately 40-50%, including international)
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Materials concentration) or 4-year technical degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a distribution/supply chain industry preferred, preferably in a manufacturing environment
