- Lead and oversee bridge-related tasks and projects, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
- Develop comprehensive plans, specifications, and estimates for diverse bridge projects.
- Conduct NBIS inspections, prepare detailed reports, and perform live load ratings.
- Prepare technical reports and perform alternative analyses for optimized outcomes.
- Provide construction phase services, including review of shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and other construction related issues.
- Mentor junior staff and oversee work of CADD Technicians for collaborate growth.
- Contribute to project pursuits by creating technical approaches.
- Execute preliminary and final designs for steel and concrete bridges, walls, and culverts.
- Ensure alignment with client standards.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to discuss progress and technical requirements.
- Prepare project documentation such as feasibility studies, condition reports, and evaluations.
- Participate in multidisciplinary project coordination and team collaboration.
- Maintain professional registration and provide technical guidance to team members.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis or structural engineering degree. Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred, PhD a plus.
- Active Illinois Structural Engineer (S.E.) license required. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a plus.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in structural/bridge design, including steel and concrete bridges.
- Familiarity with Illinois DOT, Illinois Tollway, and Chicago DOT standards. Experience with Class I railroads is a plus.
- Proficient in structural design software such as MicroStation /OpenBridge / OpenRoads, Mathcad, LEAP Bridge, MDX, LPILE and others.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communications, technical report writing, and teamwork abilities.
- Experience with AASHTO, AREMA, and industry standard design codes.
- Background in bridge rehabilitation, inspections, and new construction projects.
- Bridge and structure inspection experience preferred. Bridge Inspection Team Leader qualification preferred.
- Transit or railroad bridge design experience considered a plus.
- Valid driver's license required
