Salary: $65,000–$75,000, depending on experiencePosition Overview:Our client is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter for an on-site position in Carmel, Indiana. This is a full-time role responsible for underwriting residential mortgage loans while maintaining compliance with agency guidelines and internal policies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and comfortable working in a collaborative office setting.This role requires recent experience with Conventional loans. Non-QM and Government (FHA/VA) experience is a strong plus. Candidates must be proficient in Encompass.Key Responsibilities:Underwrite Conventional residential mortgage files in accordance with FNMA/FHLMC guidelinesAnalyze income, assets, credit, and collateral to assess loan eligibility and riskReview and clear conditions in a timely and accurate mannerCommunicate clearly with processors and loan officers to facilitate smooth closingsMaintain a consistent pipeline and meet required service-level standardsStay up to date on investor, agency, and regulatory changesSupport internal team discussions on process improvements and file qualityQualifications:2–4 years of recent mortgage underwriting experience requiredStrong knowledge of Conventional guidelinesNon-QM and Government (FHA/VA) underwriting experience is a plusEncompass experience is requiredDetail-oriented with strong time management and documentation review skillsEffective communicator with a team-first mindsetAdditional Information:This is a full-time, in-office position based in Carmel, INCandidates must have recent front-line underwriting experienceThis role is not intended for processors or individuals seeking to re-enter underwriting after an extended gapPlease Note: All qualifications and requirements for this role are set by our client.
