You will perform component selection, CAD design work, analysis including FEA, detailed BOM and Operator and User Manuals. The Mechanical Engineer collaborates with other SpecSys engineers and manufacturing along with project managers to ensure the On Time - On Budget - Done Right - Done Safely aspects of the project assigned.What does the Mechanical Engineer do at SpecSys?
  • Overall project responsibility including:
  • Verify the design meets performance and configuration specifications.
  • Contract management to verify the project is completed on time and on budget.
  • Customer management to understand expectations and standards.
  • Provide work instructions for designers and drafters.
  • Develop and update project timelines.
  • Develop design concepts to perform project function and facilitate reviews.
  • Develop scope of work projections.
  • Perform engineering calculations to verify compliance with design requirements.
  • Provide technical data to the client, designers, and drafters.
  • Oversee and/or perform FEA analysis to verify structural integrity.
  • Direct preparation FEA reports for the customer.
  • Prepare project review booklets and present to the customer.
  • Specify and source purchase components to be used.
  • Specify materials to be used in design.
  • May be responsible to work on multiple CAD packages.
  • Reviews CAD models for completeness, interferences, and manufacturability.
  • Review detail drawings for completeness, accuracy, and client standards.
  • Review and update model and drawing tolerances.
  • Generate and review Bill of Materials for completeness.
  • Update and track action / issue items.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Well organized
  • Has the ability to interact at a management level with Manufacturing Operations, Sales, Clients, and Quality
  • Has a Bachelor's or Master's degree in one of these engineering disciplines: agriculture, mechanical, electrical, or aerospace
  • 1+ years of proven project experience
