- Design of permanent and temporary structures such as poles, manholes, vaults, and earth retention systems.
- Foundation work includes slab-on-grade, shallow foundation, deep foundations, helical pile design, pole foundations, solar equipment foundations, equipment pad design, structural support of electric vehicle charging projects, riser foundations, concrete pedestals, pipe protection slabs.
- Design of temporary and permanent utility supports.
- Design of retaining walls.
- Onsite evaluations: including transmission towers, manholes, vaults and tunnels.
- Apply engineering theories, techniques and analysis to structural and geotechnical engineering designs.
- Perform calculations and prepare sketches and/or AutoCAD drawings for design operations.
- Work on new and existing wood, masonry, steel, and concrete structures.
- Work on foundations, deep shaft and trench excavations as well as temporary and permanent earth retention systems/structures.
- Assist drafters in developing designs using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software.
- Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
- Prepare technical memos, reports, construction specifications, and other written documentation summarizing engineering analyses and/or conclusions.
- Read and interpret drawings, calculations, schematics, field observations and reports.
- Conduct structural investigations, field inspections, and engineering analysis.
- Perform conceptual and value engineering with emphasis on constructability issues.
- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on civil / structural / geotechnical engineering required.
- 0-3 years’ experience in structural and/or geotechnical engineering required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Knowledge of industry design codes including AISC, ASCE, and IBC required.
- Proficiency in Mathcad and/or RISA
- Fundamental knowledge of principles of structural engineering
- Ability to travel as needed
- M.S. Degree in Civil/Structural engineering preferred
- EIT Certification
- Structural design experience
- Fundamental knowledge of temporary construction systems, geotechnical engineering, soil and rock mechanics, earthquake engineering, and groundwater hydrology
- Prior internship experience is a plus
- Construction experience is a plus
- Surveying experience is a plus
- Progressive engineering experience with increased project responsibilities
