- Understand the importance of resident rights in healthcare as well as the community as a whole, and advocate for operations, processes, and decisions that are in residents’ best interests.
- Greet patients, verify personal and medical information, and prepare them for examination.
- Support physicians or nurses during examinations and minor medical procedures.
- Provide patients with instructions regarding medications, treatments, or procedures as directed by the provider.
- Measure and record vital signs, collect specimens, administer medications and vaccinations as directed and under supervision when required.
- Coordinate patient appointments and follow-ups using electronic health record (EHR) systems. Assist with insurance forms, pre-authorizations, and billing inquiries as needed.
- Attend and participate in continuing education programs and in-services.
- Ensure proper documentation by entering resident information into electronic medical records in a timely and accurate manner.
- Be constantly aware of safety and follow up on identified risks. Respond to emergency calls on campus per protocol. Initiate and complete incident reports for any accidents, medication errors, emergency situations, etc.
- Supervise and implement infection control measure and prevention to ensure compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) and successfully have passed the CMA exam from the American Association of Medical Assistant (AAMA) or the American Medical Technologists (AMT) certification exams for medical assistants. Certification preferred but not required.
- Current and valid CPR certification.
- Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health records.
- Effective organizational skills to manage schedules, coordinate services, and ensure that all necessary documentation and paperwork are completed accurately and on time.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
