- Implements developmentally appropriate lessons and co-teaching in classrooms for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years in the college’s childcare center to create a safe and nurturing learning environment.
- Supports child development and socialization by facilitating learning experiences that align with the center’s educational philosophy, considering age, group size, composition, daily schedule and transitions to personalize education to the needs of the children.
- Supports individualized child development by addressing cultural, socio-economic, emotional and physical needs to adapt teaching methods to each child’s learning style and pace.
- Maintains health and safety standards, completes routine classroom cleaning and follows sanitation protocols for food preparation, toys and bedding to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
- Builds positive partnerships with parents by exchanging information through informal conversations to support children’s development both at home and in the classroom.
- Contributes to an inclusive, equitable and supportive environment where everyone at the institution feels valued, respected and empowered to reach their full potential.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and child development theories.
- Knowledge of health, safety and sanitation regulations related to early childhood environments.
- Skill in assessing child development, documenting progress and using observations to inform lesson planning and parent communication.
- Skill in applying consistent implementation of child guidance techniques.
- Ability to create and maintain a nurturing, developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
- Skill in engaging positively with all populations and communities, contributing to a safe and inclusive learning and work environment.

- Associate’s degree or two-year technical diploma in Child Development, Early Childhood Development, or related field.
- One (1) year work experience teaching young children in a licensed and accredited early childhood education setting.
- CPR/1st Aid Certifications
- Prior to Hire: Satisfactory status in the DCF/DOJ fingerprint background check prior to hire and every 5yrs as well as annual DOJ name-based background checks
- Upon Hire: Satisfactory completion of DCF physical exam
