- You will generate hypothesis, experimental and/or equipment design, and analysis of data to isolate glass melt defect mechanisms and test solutions.
- You will conduct hands on work in a laboratory, pilot or manufacturing environment. Note the environment can involve high temperatures and/or dirty environments.
- You will communicate project status and updates to both the project team and to management, including memos, technical reports and verbal presentations.
- You will maintain contacts with outside groups, such as consultants, universities, and other professional organizations, to facilitate problem identification and solutions.
- Minimum of 2+ years working toward a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering,
- No prior experience required. Previous industrial experience is a plus.
- Strong lab and experimental practices; can understand glass defect fundamentals and recognize deviations and implement routine solutions.
- Ability to collaborate and integrate solutions
- Strong data analysis and visualization skills
- Results oriented and high level of dedication. Able to work in any stage of innovation and handle risk of failure.
- Aim to learn new technologies and processes quickly.
- Experience with Hot material process, such as melting and forming
- Knowledge of glass process modeling capability and how to use modeling tools spanning from early stage innovation to late stage manufacturing
- Knowledge of Corning processes and business systems as well as being passionate about learning new technologies.
- Experience with software, such as JMP, MatLab, MindJet, etc.
- Initiative and leadership skills
- Ability to grow a network to get things done
