CMT Field Technician

- Performs construction-related field tests as directed by the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Manager and Supervisory Staff.
- Daily commutable travels to various construction sites primarily throughout central Ohio, with the occasional overnight and/or weekend work when required. Out-of-state travel is typically voluntary.
- Relays information to project manager and/or engineer, with limited in-field decision making.
- Transports equipment, test specimens and/or documents to field personnel, laboratory, clients or other offices, and provides physical assistance in equipment set-up.
- Enters daily field observation reports and summary reports electronically.
- Performs field quality control tests of concrete and masonry construction.
- Performs field density testing on soil, concrete, asphalt and other construction materials.
- Assists other technicians or professional staff on tasks, and supports other departments as necessary.
- Follows Atlas’ safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specs
- Ability to follow Atlas' QC plan and SOP's
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Physical strength, stamina and dexterity to lift and move 50 lbs, stoop, bend, and stand throughout the course of a workday in varying weather conditions in varying terrain.
- Motivated, career-oriented individual striving to learn and achieve within the construction industry.
- Must be willing to travel near the reporting office and surrounding areas as required by assignments.
- Works well independently.
- Experience with within a construction related field is a plus.
- Ability to work toward and achieve industry required certifications. e.g., APNGA Nuclear Certification, American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade 1, OSHA 10-hour Construction, etc.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to learn and operate specialty equipment.
- Preference for relevant work experience, a technical or associate’s degree, but not required.
- Materials Laboratory, Geotechnical Drilling, or Soils related experience would be a plus.
- Preference to one or more of the following certifications: ICC, NICET, NETTCP, CWI, etc., but not required.
