
Weld Destruct Technician -Tuscaloosa, AL

Collaborate with welder technicians and inspectors to resolve quality issues. Tear down vehicle body parts to access weld spots. Remove the spot welds by inserting a chisel or similar tool between steel plates. Tear off the area around the nugget. Measure nugget diameter and document it.RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To perform scheduled destructive weld inspection in accordance with specified frequencies
- To record test results on provided control cards and/or inspection reports
- Review and validate test reports before submission to relevant departments.
- Maintain open communication and proper feedback information to the respective personnel.
- Maintain performance of all equipment assigned to the area.
- Responsible for attaining all weld destruct samples.
- Perform assigned tasks in a safe manner.
- Safety protocols and proper use of protective gear
- Grade 12 education, GED, or equivalent and work experience
- A working knowledge both written and verbal of English and Mathematics
- Must be physically capable of performing teardown duties.
- Must be proficient in the operation of all designated tools and equipment:
- Plasma cutter
- Air hammer with Chisel
- Manual tools like hammer and crowbar
- Measuring calipers
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
