Job Title: Material Handler SupervisorAbout the Position
The Material Handler Supervisor is responsible for the flow of donated goods throughout the production area, supporting the individual production areas with incoming material and removal of salvage and trash, generating revenue to support the Mission of Seattle Goodwill.Pay Range: $22.50-23.50/hour DOE. Merit increase after 90-days!Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.Coordinate the efforts of the Dock and Staging staff with production areas, transportation, and the Production Manager.
Maintain a good working relationship with other production departments.
Write periodic performance reviews for all reporting personnel.
Audit quality decisions of material moving to salvage and to the production floor.
Maintain a clean work environment.
Uphold safe work practices in support of a safety culture through awareness and observation; assist in safety training of employees; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
Oversee baling of salvage textiles.
Oversee scrap metal operation.
Requisition production supplies as needed and maintain inventories on hand.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Consistent and safe execution of duties associated with forklift operation when certified to Seattle Goodwill standards.*Supervisory Responsibilities:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Goodwill's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; monitoring performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. 1 year production or warehouse experience, working knowledge of material handling practices
Minimum 6 months to 1 year of supervisory experience
Must have familiarity with dock equipment, lifting and handling techniques
Ability to work and lead in a team environmentComputer/Technology Skills:Proficient knowledge with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job.Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:If applicable to job role: Seattle Goodwill Forklift certification optional, must meet eligibility requirements.Physical Abilities:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to lift and carry up to 30 - 40 pounds; have developed fine motor control (grasp, handle, manipulate objects with fingers; standing for long periods, frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing; climbing ladders; able to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain). Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills.
