- Obtain a comprehensive experience in a high acuity, high volume critical care system
- Gain a deeper understanding of the anatomy and physiology of common pathologies seen in a diverse critical care population.
- Develop proficiency in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of a wide variety of critical care populations.
- Advance skills in teamwork, communication, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity critical care setting.
- Prepare Critical Care APP Fellows for independent practice in a wide variety of Critical Care Practice settings.
- Introductory Critical Care Boot Camp
- Opportunities to participate in high fidelity Critical Care Simulations
- Structured rotation through five Critical Care specialties with supervision and mentorship from experienced Critical Care providers.
- Monthly didactic sessions focusing on core Critical Care topics
- Weekly education provided in collaboration with the Medical and Surgical Residency, as well as multiple CME opportunities through the department of critical care.
- Scholarly involvement, including participation in a hospital-based quality/process improvement project and departmental journal club.
- Exposure to frequently performed Critical Care procedures, such as central line insertion, arterial line insertion, chest tube placement, and thoracentesis.

- Program is open Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner applicants
- Physician Assistants must have graduated from or in the final year of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Master’s degree program or higher and be NCCPA certified or eligible to sit for the PANCE
- Nurse Practitioners must have graduate from or in the final year of an ANCC accredited Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Master’s degree program or higher and be AG-ACNP certified or eligible to sit for the AG-ACNP exam
