Department: Maintenance - AdministrationESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedules, assigns, and supervises vehicle maintenance to meet SporTran route schedule requirements during assigned work hours. Directs shop employees in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of vehicle fleet and equipment.
- Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
- Adjust mechanics and other shop employees work schedules to provide needed man-hours for each shift.
- Schedules, monitors and insures all job assignments are completed within a reasonable time frame or within industry standards. · Monitors repairs and parts usage in an effort to control cost. Maintains adequate supply of tools by reviewing shop needs and repairing or replacing tools as needed.
- Interprets company policies and union contract to workers and enforces safety regulations.
- Coordinates road call problems to minimize bus schedule delays.
- Perform random inspections of completed repair and maintenance work and assess quality and completeness of the work performed. · Coordinates and schedules regular preventative maintenance on company fleet.
- Supervisors and monitors bus cleaning and washing program to enhance image of fleet
- Supervises and monitors housekeeping program to insure that hazardous working conditions are minimized and work area is clean. · Performs other duties assigned or required by management.
- Maintains time and production records
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, or shop employees
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Ability to coordinate road calls to minimize bus schedule delays
- Ability to interpret company policies and union contract to shop employees.
- Ability to enforce shop and vehicle safety practices and regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, department heads and other company officials in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse workforce.
- High School Diploma or its equivalent
- MUST have valid Driver's License and ability to obtain a CDL Class A or B with Passenger Endorsement within 120 days of hire
- MUST be able to walk, kneel, bend, push and/or pull to complete moderate to heavy lifting when necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience in diesel shop environment
- Minimum 5 years recent paid bus or truck experience, diesel engine repair and maintenance
- Ability to work varying shifts, to include nights, weekends, and holidays
