Senior Cisco Network Engineer, Omaha, NEThis position will design, implement, maintain, and support our clientÂ’s growing network infrastructure. This engineer will work within the highly skilled Network Services Team responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and service agreements.   • Bachelor's degree in information technology related field of study or equivalent experience.
  • CCNP certification, or equivalent preferred.
  • 5 plus years of customer focused experience, resolving technical problems, with experience in using ticketing systems.
  • 3 plus years of network systems experience preferred.
  • 2 plus years of network administration and/or network design/troubleshooting experience preferred.
  • In depth understanding of network infrastructure and related hardware.
  • Subject matter expert in multiple areas related to networking with a detailed understanding of how they interact. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Network routing & switching (Layer 2 & Layer 3)
  • Modern protocols, (i.e. TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP)
  • Cisco switching
  • Cisco ACI
  • Wireless networks
  • VPN
  • Load balancing
  • Able to develop innovative solutions to unique problems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical terms into user terminology to all levels within the company.
  • Participate in scheduled on-call rotation.
  • Must be available to travel for remote installs (up to 25%; can volunteer for additional travel)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A self-starter able to work independently, but comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Test circuits and components of malfunctioning telecommunications equipment to isolate malfunctions using test meters, circuit diagrams, polarity probes and other hand tools.
  • Repair or replace faulty equipment such as defective and damaged telephones, wires, switching system components and associated equipment.
  • Adjust or modify equipment to enhance equipment performance or to respond to customer requests.
  • Request support from technical service centers when on-site procedures fail to solve installation or maintenance problems.
  • Assemble and install communication equipment such as data and telephone communication lines, wiring, switching equipment, wiring frames, power apparatus, computer systems and networks.
  • Route and connect cables and lines to switches, switchboard equipment, and distributing frames, using wire-wrap guns or soldering irons to connect wires to terminals.
  • Examine telephone transmission facilities to determine requirements for new or additional telephone services.
  • Measure distances from landmarks to identify exact installation sites for equipment.
  • IP Telephony
Responsibilities:
  • Configure and install new network switches, routers and related hardware.
  • Provide Tier 3 support and troubleshoot to resolve network related issues.
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
  • Define, document, and enforce system standards.
  • Works on multiple highly complex major projects requiring innovative, original solutions.
  • Travel to remote site locations for installation and configuration of network systems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
