JMT, is currently ranked #50 on Engineering News-Record’s list of the Top 500 Design Firms.JMT’s Kentucky Construction Management Team is seeking qualified, experienced and highly motivated individuals to inspect construction work based on approved KYTC permits. While the bulk of the permits will consist of fiber installations on KYTC R/W, there will be instances where other types of permits including other utilities, turn lanes, additional highway facilities, etc. will be inspected. Inspections will be in accordance with KYTC policies and the approved permits and associated plans. This position is not eligible for employer based sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification.Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations
Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes
Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
Makes field notes and computations
Review work zone with respect to approved traffic control plan.
Document daily work activities
Interact professionally with contractor personnel, traveling public, and KYTC personnel to respond to inquiries and address issues.
Work schedule varies according to project assignments, permit restrictions, and/or contractor schedule.Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

Required Skills
Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
Required Experience
10+ years of applicable highway/utility construction experience or inspection experience
Highschool Diploma or GED Equivalent
Must have or the ability to obtain KYTC Work Zone Technician Certification
Excellent communication and writing skills
Strong Computer proficiency
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
KYTC Project experience including construction policies and procedures
Fiber installations (Aerial & Underground)
The following certifications are preferred but not required:
ACI Level 1
Grade & Drain Level 1
Structures Inspection
Aggregate Sampling Technician
KEPSCI-RI
Asphalt Field Technician
Working Conditions:Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed.
