
Executive Director, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support

- Provides district leadership and implementation of the MPS Multi-Tiered System of Supports Framework and a Cycle of Continuous Improvement for students, staff, and buildings.
- Oversees the creation and implementation of professional learning of district data-collecting systems, including Educlimber.
- Collaborates with departments, divisions, and schools to compile, review, and disseminate assessment data, ensuring district-wide data literacy and informed decision-making.
- Provides district oversight of and support for school improvement efforts; develops recommendations to improve effectiveness of instruction in schools.
- Collaborates with MPS district and building staff teams on needs assessments, performance targets, and program implementation and evaluation; evaluates effectiveness, interprets and explains program policies and procedures, and documents meeting issues and observations.
- Directs MTSS staff and activities, including School Improvement Specialists, Instructional Specialists, and PAR Mentors; exercises independent judgement within broad policy guidelines; and recommends and implements solutions.
- Provides leadership, direction, and guidance in strategies, systems, and priorities for intervention.
- Directs the work of staff; develops priorities and assigns tasks and projects; assures that appropriate and reliable services are provided, and goals are defined and achieved; developed staff skills and training plans and conducts performance evaluations; meets regularly with staff to discuss and resolve priorities, schedules, workload, critical concerns, and technical issues.
- Collaborates with other MPS departments, public agencies (including the Minnesota Department of Education), and community organizations to expand and improve services and best practices for improving student achievement.
- Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment
- Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendent's goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records and MPS information.
- Valid MN Teaching License AND
- Master's degree in education, AND
- A minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience, AND
- Experience leading school improvement efforts in a K-12 educational setting and/or instructional coaching; OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.
- Evidence-based multi-tiered systems of support in Pre-K-12 educational settings, including tiers of support for intervention and enrichment in both academics and socioemotional learning.
- Evidence-based instructional coaching practices and systems.
- Evidence-based instructional practices and frameworks for teacher evaluation.
- Strong systems of school improvement to achieve intended outcomes for students
- All applicable laws and regulatory issues governing assessment in public education, including rules and regulations of the Minnesota Department of Education and other governing agencies.
- Rules and regulations of the US Department of Education and the 1965 Elementary and Secondary Education Act reauthorized as ESSA.
- Principles and practices of public sector administrative management, including budgeting, purchasing, grants, customer service and employee supervision.
- Techniques and practices for efficient and cost-effective management of resources.
- Principles of record keeping, records management, and management of confidential records.
- Customer service and public relations methods and practices.
- Interpreting, and applying state and Federal statutes, codes, rules, and regulations. Researching, collecting, generating, analyzing, preparing and interpreting data and reports.
- Evaluating and assessing data and making appropriate recommendations.
- Assessing, analyzing, and identifying problems, and recommending effective solutions.
- Researching, collecting, analyzing, and preparing data and generating reports.
- Managing staff, delegating tasks and authority, and evaluating staff performance.
- Providing effective customer service, and dealing tactfully and courteously with the public
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, clients, advocates and representatives from community groups and government agencies
- Operating a personal computer using standard and specialized software.
- Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
- Current Minnesota Teaching License
- A valid Minnesota State Driver's License
