The Fatherhood Specialist (Parent Educator) will provide curriculum-based parenting support to fathers in the Greater Houston area. This position will facilitate curricula, presentations, and activities and provide support for marketing/recruitment of participants as directed by grant for families in community settings. Primary responsibilities include group facilitation using the 24/7 Dad curricula and conducting community outreach to recruit new participants. The Fatherhood Specialist will also work closely with the surrounding community providing advocacy and referral services.Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Must have completed the 24/7 Dad curricula training or be able to attain such certification within the first year of employment. Employment is contingent on acquisition of minimal certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of related experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related human services field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Social Work practices.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional, confidential work environment.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations and work force.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which vary according to client needs.
Work Conditions:
  • Environment: Home-based office, Community Settings
  • Range of Schedule: Mon – Fri, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm, Occasional Saturday s for planned events
  • Travel: Frequent (Must have reliable transportation and valid Texas Driver License)
