- Location: Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, CA
- Pay rate: $30.00 per hour
- Covered expenses: travel, lodging, per diem, a shared rental car covered
- Training days: Monday-Friday
- Schedule: 7:45 am - 4:45 pm
- Instructional team: this project will involve team-teaching/instructor rotation
- Plan and conduct Korean language classes using a variety of teaching techniques and approaches, to develop students’ listening, reading, and speaking skills;
- Create training materials and work collaboratively with other instructors on all program-related matters;
- Perform other teaching and administrative duties, as needed, under the guidance of the Training Manager(s) and Supervisor(s);
- Administer weekly quizzes and assessments, and conduct other informal or formal evaluations of students’ learning progress;
- Provide monthly written reports of the students' progress to the supervisor and jointly develop plans to address any potential issues;
- Maximize the use of instructional technology and online learning resources into teaching to support independent learning;
- Adjust teaching techniques and approaches to the student's individual learning styles and professional needs;
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a foreign language, linguistics, or a related field
- Minimum two years of full-time experience teaching adult professional students
- Experience teaching the Post-DLPT/GRIT program preferred
- Experience teaching US military students
- Required OPI scores:
+ ILR 2 or Advanced (ACTFL) in English
- Familiarity with DLPT, OPI, and other government-administered tests
- Knowledge of the ILR and/or ACTFL scales
- Experience integrating instructional technology in teaching and assessment
- Experience using online meeting platforms for teaching such as Zoom, Teams, or WebEx
- Native speaker of the Korean language
