Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Payroll Services, performs a variety of payroll-related duties for faculty, staff and student workers (1,400+ employees). The Senior Payroll Specialist acts as primary backup for the Associate Director and assists with all aspects of processing the College’s payroll.The Senior Payroll Specialist acts as the primary backup for the Associate Director. Responsibilities include review of the Workday payroll system, ensuring the accuracy of payroll entries; posting of various payroll accounting journals; and benefit reconciliations. Works in close association with the Human Resources department on payroll- and benefits-related matters. Strong communication and communication skills; and attention to detail are all musts.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:PAYROLL PROCESSING - 80%Reviews and ensures accurate and timely processing of Semi Monthly Hourly and Salary payrolls (4 per month).Post payroll transmission reviews and uploads HSA contributions onto carrier sites.Assists in benefits reconciliation and prepares requisition requests for paying vendors and union dues.Processes one time, on demand/off cycle payments for terminations, payroll advances and when otherwise needed.Reports monthly census data to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.Assists Associate Director with answering emails sent to a shared payroll inbox.OTHER PAYROLL DUTIES - 20%Assists Associate Director in troubleshooting system functionality issues and testing system enhancements.Assists Associate Director with tax filings for quarterly and year end filing periods.Assists Associate Director with W-2 preparation and other year-end tasks.Assist ERISA team and others with payroll reports for yearly fiscal audits.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or information systems preferred; associates degree plus two years payroll experience can be substituted.2-4 years of preparing payroll in a fast-paced, high volume environment.Higher-education, Union or not-for-profit environment experience is highly desired.Must have knowledge of federal, state and local payroll regulations.Prior experience with Workday HCM & Payroll strongly preferred.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and google suites.Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills, professional demeanor and customer focus, as well as excellent judgement and ability to maintain confidential information.Knowledge of general ledger and accounting practices preferred.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:The range for this position is $72,000 - $75,000/annuallyCCA offers a comprehensive benefits package, including the choice of five medical plans, generous holiday, sick & vacation time, a retirement match and tuition remission. CCA covers an average of 91% of the medical plan cost for the employee only and an average of 82% for employees with dependents.
