- Manages meal service in dining areas for residents, guests and for special functions to include set-up, service and clean up.
- Schedules, assigns, trains and manages all wait staff personnel ensuring adequate staffing at all times.
- Supervises serving of meals.
- Accept on call and emergency duties/ responsibilities.
- Make frequent inspections of all work, storage and serving areas to determine and maintain compliance with all policies and procedures governing these areas.
- Recommends change in techniques or procedures governing service areas.
- Coordinate set-up and cleanup of catered functions for residents, guests and staff.
- Address residents dining concerns and attends to resident’s needs to facilitate good communication.
- Maintain records of work assignments and menu selection.
- Instructs employees in equipment use and sanitation methods.
- Assures appearance, cleanliness and safety of dining room areas, equipment and fixtures.
- Conducts routine sanitation, safety and maintenance inspections of equipment and work areas and assures compliance with cleaning standards of all food preparation and service areas and affected common areas.
- Interview candidates for hire, conducts performance evaluations, disciplines and recommends promotions, transfer and/or discharge.
- Responsible for the POS being close out properly at the end of the shift in that all tables are entered properly in the software with proper payment.
- Responsible in the POS for updating the menus weekly and theme meals or specials get entered into the system.
- May be asked in implementation of established cost containment procedures.
- May be called to functions as wait staff personnel to insure timely efficient service of residents, guests or staff.
- May be asked to fill in the absence of the Assistant Director of Dining Services.
- Acknowledge, comprehend and support the residents and the Resident Bill of Rights.
- Maintain confidentiality of both residents and staff.
- Comply with the required local, state and federal regulations.
- Attend and participate in committee meetings, trainings, in-services, community events as required.
- All other duties as assigned.
- A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in a food service operation, including six months of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of quality food service preparation and service techniques and standards.
- Knowledge of state health and safety regulations and requirements.
- Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.
- Ability to effectively communicate via written or verbal methods.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office© - Word and Excel, as well as other industry-related software.
