The Insurance Verification Specialist is a key member of the operations team, supporting our mission to deliver the best patient experience in healthcare.This position is based in our administrative office in Smyrna.Position SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Insurance Verification Specialist to join our administrative team. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, ensuring accurate benefit information, and helping to prevent claim denials and delays. Your work will play a critical role in ensuring a smooth billing process and a positive patient experience.Key ResponsibilitiesVerify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to scheduled appointments, procedures, or admissionsContact insurance companies to confirm benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and pre-authorization requirementsDocument and update patient insurance information in the electronic medical records (EMR) systemCommunicate benefit and authorization details clearly to patients and clinical staffObtain and track prior authorizations for procedures, referrals, or medications when requiredCollaborate with front desk and billing teams to resolve insurance discrepanciesAssist with re-verification for returning patients and coverage changesStay current on insurance guidelines, coding policies, and payer-specific requirementsFollow up on denied authorizations or coverage issues, escalating as appropriateQualificationsAssociates degree in related field (Bachelors preferred in healthcare administration or a business discipline)Preferably 1–2 years of experience in insurance verification, medical billing, or related healthcare administrative roleStrong understanding of health insurance terminology (co-pays, deductibles, out-of-pocket max, etc.)Familiarity with commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care plansProficient with EMR systems and payer portals (e.g., Availity, Navinet)Excellent attention to detail and organizational skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage time effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentWhat would make you a qualified candidate:- you have experience working in a medical setting- you pay attention to detail- you are task-oriented- you have a high standard for the work you doWhat would make you a stand-out candidate:- you have at least 3 years working with insurance- you have at least 3 years working in a fast-paced, customer service position- you have a previous manager as a referenceNeuhaus Foot and Ankle is a team that is dedicated to a high standard of patient care and customer service.
