- A minimum of eight years leadership experience in a nonprofit, overseeing multiple programs and/or contracts
- Experience building and managing multiple program budgets and analyzing monthly financials
- Expertise in negotiating annual and multi-year contracts with funders and partners
- Passion for BACR's mission and purpose and an ability to communicate this passion to others.
- Demonstrated experience managing a high-performing team in a multi-site structure to include professional development and mentorship.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of program planning, organizational structure, budgeting, administrative operations, and fundraising.
- Expertise in one or more of the following service areas: education, youth development, national service, workforce development, or behavioral health.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and compile complex data for internal and external planning and reporting purposes.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to represent the organization externally across a wide range of stakeholders and constituencies.
- Strong relationship builder with the ability to find common ground, build consensus and strengthen collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
- Strong community awareness and connection.

- Ability to commute to and work in our El Cerrito office.
- Create a culture and community that supports shared knowledge and participation among and between all Industry Directors.
- Manage each Industry Director to identify and address challenges, seize opportunities and develop program efficiencies and/or synergies, and allocate resources accordingly.
- Direct each Industry Director for the annual assessment and fiscal analysis of BACR programs, driving informed decisions to ensure program excellence and financial health.
- Work closely with finance and industry leaders to ensure effective communication, collaboration and accountability of budgets, receivables, fiscal timelines, financial statements, and contract completion.
- Analyze new and existing contracts for financial and programmatic viabilities with executive leadership, enabling insightful decisions that drive organizational growth.
- Establish and manage contract negotiation strategies across industries and programs
- Interface with the Compliance Director to review contracts; assess, report and implement any required policies
- Collaborate closely with the CEO to develop, refine, and execute the agency's annual budget, ensuring strategic allocation of resources that align with programmatic priorities and organizational goals.
- Support the CEO in the development and execution of the agency's annual planning process, driving a comprehensive approach that integrates programmatic strategies, financial projections, and organizational growth objectives.
- Contribute essential leadership to the CEO in the formulation of annual goals and initiatives, ensuring their alignment with the broader mission while driving measurable program and BACR industry impact.
- Act as a valued member of the Executive Team, contributing thought leadership and insights to high-level discussions, decisions, and initiatives that shape the agency's strategic direction.
- Interface with the Board of Directors to provide program updates, insights and strategic guidance
- Strategize with the administrative team to define most effective ways to implement improvements, providing support with change management.
- Examine how policies and procedures are different between and within industries and work with admin/program teams to standardize or clarify when different.
- Represent the program(s) in all discussions and decisions to ensure viability.
- Lead each Industry Director in the evaluation of each program’s effectiveness, organizational structure, and efficiency. Champion the development of annual goals and client outcome targets, fostering innovation and strategic alignment with BACR's mission.
- Determine areas where there is potential synergy between programs and facilitate communication and cross program activities to gain insights and to identify areas for improvement and increased efficiency.
- Oversee BACR annual planning process and ensure it is accomplished, analyzed/measured and presented to the board.
- Support efforts towards smooth leadership transitions at all levels of BACR
- Ensure that program input is present at all phases of transition including interview and selection of leadership roles.
- Actively participate in agency-wide efforts such as staff and manager training and development, wellness initiatives, DEIB initiatives, evaluation, and other agency events and committees.
- Help create a culture of equity and inclusion, and a supportive and positive environment among all BACR staff consistent with BACR Best Practices.
