
Payroll Specialist

- Maintain current Payroll systems to achieve alignment with HR benefits and initiates.
- Maintain payroll systems to ensure effective accounting processing.
- Analyze, prepare and input payroll data.
- Use automated systems to produce accurate and timely payroll.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports for management (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.).
- Perform various journal entries and account reconciliations and provide General Ledger support.
- Perform data entry of payroll data such as employee data, garnishments, vacation time, insurance and 401(k) deductions.
- Review time clock entries and review the downloaded information for completeness and accuracy.
- Follow up and contact various department supervisors for any missed time clock entries.
- Process payroll data.
- Pull internal management reports using system software.
- Timely filing of all applicable payroll taxes.
- Process Garnishments
- Company lead in payroll audits with outside vendor including 401K audit
- Responsible for all employee tax issues
- Responsible for payroll entity setup and registration of new states
- Responsible for GL feeds from payroll system
- Funding of H.S.A., F.S.A., Dependent Care, and 401k accounts
- Maintain accuracy of PTO/Vacation/Sick Leave balances based upon approved requests
- Complete census and vendor report requests related to payroll
- Manage payroll vendor relations and contact
- Other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
- Preferred bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education
- 3-4 years of payroll processing experience required.
- Prior experience with in house payroll processing, including payroll tax filing.
- ADP Workforce Now and Great Plains experience preferred, but not required.
- Working knowledge of at least 1 payroll processing platform.
- Solid understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws.
- Sitting for extended periods of time
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and to handle other
- communications/computer components
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and microbiological
