At our core, we are Advanced Energy - powering the future, together.POSITION SUMMARY:As an Advanced Energy Field Applications Engineer (FAE), you will be the primary technical interface between our customer and our internal Sales, Marketing and Engineering teams. The Artesyn and AEI brands are well known and well respected in the power conversion industry and within the markets we address. As such you will be a trusted advisor to our customers. You will be instrumental in discovering and providing information about the application, helping to choose or develop a solution, in presenting it to the customer and in helping the customer to implement our solution.RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and maintain a trusted technical advisor relationship with customer
  • Review application conditions, specifications, test methods to show compliance and help define products and projects
  • Be part of a cross functional team including Sales, Engineering, Marketing and Operations to support the customer and act as a technical liaison between customers and internal teams
  • As part of the Global High Volume Products Business Unit FAE team, collaborate with and assist other FAEs and in North America and globally on common customer programs and issues
  • Interact with customer and internal engineering and quality teams while winning new business, custom product developments and sustaining matters.
  • Responsible for performing activities such as test and debug in our lab and at customer site to support all phases of system qualification of AEI/Artesyn standard and custom products
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experienced power electronic engineer possessing strong technical and interpersonal skills to support the adoption of Advanced Energy power solutions to targeted customers in with focus on networking accounts in the Santa Clara Valley (Silicon Valley)
  • Should be equally comfortable working with all levels of a customer, from bench level debugging, rework/reprogram PSUs to presenting solutions to customer's technical team
  • Responsible for performing activities such as test and debug at customer site to support all phases of system qualification of AEI/Artesyn standard and custom products
  • Must have knowledge of digital communication bus such as i2C/SMBus/PMBus or CAN bus and firmware reflash or bootload experience
  • Be part of a cross functional team including Sales, Engineering, Marketing and Operations to support the customer and act as a technical liaison between customers and internal teams
  • As a trusted customer advocate, he/she must have the skills to influence and earn the respect of engineering leaders both internally and with the customer.
  • Proven fixer - able to drive issues to resolution with a sense of urgency
EXPERIENCE:
  • 3+ years' design/application experience in power supply and/or other power electronic products
  • Working experience with digital communication bus such as i2C bus and PMBus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with an electronic engineering background
COMPENSATION:As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
