- Direct operations of the Employee Chaplains Program and peer support team to include personnel management, response, policy, training, resources, compliance with applicable laws and tracking.
- Serve as a referral source and liaison for employee wellness benefit providers, such as the Connections Employee Assistance Program, psychological services and the health care trust board.
- Direct wellness resource groups, to include managing logistics for employee access, tracking and resources.
- Prepare and present wellness-related materials, presentations and statistics and identify and apply for grant opportunities.
- Collect, manage and report program recaps for command staff.
- Identify and implement incentives for preventive wellness.
- Attend meetings, events and trainings as required.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all county policies and procedures.
- Direct office-wide critical incident response.
- Assist with preparation, success and recovery during the annual employee physical agility testing process.
- Track, identify and adjust program efforts to meet performance benchmarks.
- Direct employee and family wellness information events.
- Assist employees by providing wellness resources in return-to-work situations (medical, military etc.).
- Connect with new supervisors and those transitioning positions to assist with resources and stress management.
- Identify best practices for public safety employee wellness.
- Work collaboratively with other agencies, to include the State of South Dakota, South Dakota Highway Patrol and Rapid City Police Department.
- Assist with public relation, recruiting and staff volunteer events.
- Manage and conduct exit interviews and channel to appropriate personnel.
- Organize and implement wellness events.
- Assist with organizing annual meetings.
- Bachelor's Degree in human services or a related field.
- Prior experience in law enforcement, public safety, or military preferred.
- 3 years demonstrated experience in leading, mentoring and demonstrating wellness program implementation.
- Experience dealing with trauma, critical incidents and the impact of profession-related stressors.
- Preference for those who have been trained in crisis management or peer support.
- Proficient computer skills, to include the ability to extract statistical data, prepare professional presentations and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid South Dakota Driver's License within 90 days of moving to South Dakota.
