The Assistant Director is instrumental in developing and implementing financial strategies. This Assistant Director is responsible for managing and mentoring accounting and student employees, providing critical financial analysis and offering actionable insights into the organizations financial performance.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSOversees the accounting and business office daily operationsLeads the annual budget creation process and provides analysis on budget variancesCoordinates and supports audits and ensures timely resolution of audit findingsEnsures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as organizational policies and proceduresConducts process improvements to identify opportunities and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy of financial operationsEngages in cost reduction initiatives and collaborates with cross functional teams to identify and implement cost saving initiatives, process improvements and efficiency measuresPrepares and analyzes monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAPOversees accounts payable and receivable processes including analyzing end of month financial reports and outstanding accounts payable and accounts receivablesResponsible for cash management including bank transfers and company’s positive pay programsReconciles meal plans and other various account receivables with SUNY Geneseo recordsCompletes a monthly review of the company’s trial balance to ensure accuracy and compliance in reportingManages and mentors accounting and business office employeesDevelops and implements accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practicesMonitors internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure the accuracy of financial recordsPrepares and reviews financial statements, budgets and forecasts.Provides financial advice by studying operational issues; applying financial principles and practices; developing recommendationsConducts various analyses to provide feedback on organizational performance, trends, and forecastsOther duties as assigned to reach individual and organizational goals.SKILLS AND COMPETENCIESStrong analytical and problem solving skills.Excellent organizational and time management, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and ability to work with diverse teams.Advanced knowledge of accounting practices and principles.Expertise in financial reporting and analysisAbility to interpret and analyze complex financial data.Ability to present financial information clearly to key stakeholdersStrong organizational skillsLeadership skillsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
